| Endocyte gains some financial flexibility
Endocyte Inc., a life sciences company located at the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, announced today that it has secured a $15 million venture debt facility through Oxford Finance Corp. and GE Healthcare Financial Services, which acted as the agent for the agreement. Endocyte uses an advanced targeting technology that makes it possible to develop custom guidance systems for drugs. The technology is designed to make drugs more effective by targeting them directly to receptors found on diseased cells. "This funding enhances our financial flexibility and enables us to even more effectively advance our pipeline of proprietary receptor targeting products," said Endocyte chief financial officer Mike Sherman. "The addition of non-dilutive, venture debt financing represents an especially attractive complement to Endocyte's existing capital structure." For more on this story, read Saturday's J&C.
Police puppy makes online debut
Officers said the puppy, one of a litter of seven, has attracted huge interest since he was unveiled as the force's latest crime-fighting weapon. The dog's new handler, Constable Mike Keenan, said: "The benefits of using German Shepherds are that they are generally very loyal and hard working, as well as being intelligent." Keenan's wife Jennifer has asked pupils from St Ninian's Primary School in Dundee to come up with a name for the puppy. Ponderings from PapaBear
The NFL regular season has come to a close and the Cleveland Browns just missed making the playoffs. A few weeks ago it sure looked like they were in good shape as far as the post season was concerned, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Still, the Browns did register a victory over the San Francisco 49ers in their final game and there will be high hopes for this team entering the 2008 season. The Brownies finished with a 10-6 record, far exceeding expectations for this team entering 2007. This is the first time this franchise has reached a double digit win total since they re-entered the league in 1999. They provided many thrills for their die hard fans this season and belive me it was long overdue. I grew up in Cleveland and have been a life long Browns fan, so the following opinion might be a bit bias.
